In mid July we rescued a dog that would have been euthanized in CA. He was abused and mistreated by his former owners. No other rescue would try to help him. He is a gorgeous show Springer, who we hoped could be rehabilitated with Megan at a ranch in Prescott, AZ.

Charlie, SSRI’s first grandson has been adopted by Dale Page in Ohio.  SSRI rescued Charlie before he could be put down in mid July.  Mary Kay Gauron and Mary Sanders met Janine Matinez in Barstow.  Janine had driven about 3 hours with Charlie from the shelter.  Then Mary Kay and Mary drove another 8 hours to Prescott …. Singing songs from the 70s-90s for Charlie….who sang along and then napped.  Collapsing at midnight in a hotel….they took Charlie to the vet and the ranch the next day.  Charlie spent rehab time in a ranch outside of Prescott, AZ learning to be a good boy.

Many thanks to Janine Martinez for paying for his airline ticket from Phoenix to Columbus in early October. Hats off to Laurel Fagg for picking him up in Prescott and transporting him with great songs to Phoenix and the plane the next day.  Charlie almost didn’t make his flight because Laurel’s girls loved running around in the back yard with Charlie.  But Benny made it clear the springer girls were his and the house was not big enough for two guys.  Now Dale is working with Charlie to make this former show dog…a good member of his family.  We look forward to hearing more about Charlie’s transition from CA and AZ to Ohio in the future.
