“Oh Bennie, she’s a really keen
She’s got electric boots, a mohair suit
You know I read it in a magazine!
Bennie and the Jets…”
Well, it takes a special dog to have their own song and Bennie is just such a dog! She’s a beautiful black and white girl who makes 9-years-old look like the new 5! Plenty of energy and enthusiasm in one sweet package. This girl loves, loves, LOVES her squeaky toys. So much in fact, her foster mom has to limit her play time with them. Bennie barks enthusiastically when she wants you to pick up a toy and play with her but she’s also content to just lay down and play by herself.
Easy to groom and prone to offering soft sweet kisses, Bennie gets along well with older children (not because she doesn’t like them, just might be a little rough). Cats are a no. As fond as she is of her humans, she prefers to be the top dog. Perhaps a low-key male might work, but she’s not afraid to go it alone.
Bennie came into SSRI as an owner relinquishment and has proven to be an easy dog to foster. She definitely needs some leash work as she can really pull! She’s totally house-broken (not sure about a dog door as she doesn’t have access to one). She knows how to sit and shake hands. She is heartworm negative, up-to-date on all shots and is in very good health.
Her foster mom has placed Bennie on a diet and hopefully the weight will be coming off soon. She topped the scale at 60 lbs.! She loves food and treats and has been caught doing a little counter-surfing…Other than that, her house manners are excellent and she would be a delightful addition to an active house.
Bennie had a tough transition to her foster home and would need a few days in her new home to make another change. After that, she’d be good to go. Maybe you’ll be the one to give Bennie a new forever home?
